Did you now that “Calathes” means “basket” in Greece? With this kind of name, Nick Calathes’ destiny was pretty much predetermined since an early age.

The MVP of Panathinaikos and All EuroLeague team member visited Eurohoops Dome and talked with Eurohoops editor Aris Barkas about growing up in the States, his life in Greece, learning Greek, his family and his career so far.

A top prospect since an early age, Calathes finished his best season ever in Europe by emerging as the best point guard of the Turkish Airlines EuroLeague and the leader of Panathinaikos.

“I obviously learned a lot by a great coach, Zeljko Obradovic“, he explained about his first tour of duty with Panathinaikos and admitted that he believes the Greens “should have been in the Final Four, but it’s something that you can’t bring back”.

Here’s the first part of his interview.
