Nick Calathes is coming off a phenomenal season in the Turkish Airlines EuroLeague and the Greek League, and after three successful years with Panathinaikos, his contract has expired. Panathinaikos Superfoods, FC Barcelona Lassa, and Khimki Moscow Region are in the mix to sign the 29-year old.
The Greek team has already made its 6.5 million euros offer to Nick Calathes that would keep him in Greece until 2021. However, Khimki has also made a two-year offer to Calathes. According to sources, the annual earnings are higher than what PAO is offering. Besides, these two teams that have made offers to the Greek international, Barcelona is also legitimately interested in Calathes.
The Spanish team has not made an offer to Calathes yet. However if in the next ten days the 29-year old point guard has not made the decision about his future, Barca is expected to make its move.
On the other hand, there is the NBA possibility. If Calathes wishes to consider his options in the NBA, he would have to wait one more week, until the start of the free agency (July 1). According to Eurohoops sources, however, if Calathes finds the perfect deal in Europe before the start of the NBA’s free agency, he will not hesitate to sign it.
