Valencia has reportedly informed German center Tibor Pleiss that the club won’t exercise the option in his contract in order to keep him for the next season.
According to Superdeporte, Pleiss’ salary of nearly one million euros will become unaffordable for the club, given that there will be a budget decrease due to the fact that Valencia won’t play in EuroLeague next season.
Not competing in EuroLeague wasn’t an issue for Pleiss that he was willing to stay with Valencia, per Superdeporte. But him remaining with the “Taronja” is apparently not economically feasible for the organization.
Pleiss, who’s currently in Belgrade and recovering from a plantar fascia injury, averaged 10.1 points, 5.2 rebounds and 1.24 PIR in EuroLeague, plus 9.8 points, 6.2 rebounds and 12.4 PIR in ACB, during 2017-2018.
