Nick Calathes has agreed to a new three-year contract with Panathinaikos that will pay him 6.5 million euros.
It’s worth noting that Calathes’ contract does not include an NBA out.
The Greek international closes the door to the NBA for the next seasons and he chose Panathinaikos even though he had a better financial offer from Khimki.
To be exact Calathes, took a “hometown discount” as he turned down a three-year 8 million dollar offer by Khimki Moscow to stay in Athens for Panathinaikos. There was interest also from Barcelona for the Greek-American guard, but not an offer made.
Calathes’ decision was taken today and he will not examine or wait for any other offer. The All-EuroLeague guard had hired a US-based agent who would negotiate a possible NBA deal, however, that’s not the case anymore.
SDNA first reported the deal.
