Sarunas Jasikevicius will stay as the head coach of Zalgiris Kaunas in 2018-2019, the Lithuanian club officially announced.
Saras reportedly declined an offer by the Toronto Raptors to join the team as an assistant coach in order to remain with Zalgiris for a fourth season in a row. Barcelona had also been reported as one of the clubs that were interested in hiring the Lithuanian coach.
During 2017-2018, Jasikevicius led Zalgiris through the most successful season for the club in this century. Zalgiris advanced to the EuroLeague Final Four for the first time since 1999 after beating powerhouse Olympiacos 3-1 in the quarterfinal series. After finishing at the third place in the Final Four, Zalgiris then proceeded to win the Lithuanian League.
