The 24-year old declined Olympiacos Piraeus’ offer on Sunday night, and according to Eurohoops sources he will remain in Greece and sign a three-year deal with Panathinaikos Superfoods Athens.

Papapetrou received offers from three Turkish Airlines EuroLeague teams that include, Olympiacos Piraeus, Panathinaikos Superfoods Athens, and Anadolu Efes. According to sources, the contract offered by the Turkish team was the ‘richest’ one in terms of money. Per the same sources, the Greek international had considered the possibility of signing with Efes but decided to decline the offer.

FC Barcelona Lassa has expressed interest in enquiring him. However, the Spanish team never made an official offer. Panathinaikos got the player and the official announcement is expected soon.

Olympiacos’ front office wanted to keep him in the roster, and the 24-year old forward had meetings with the Greek team’s owners; the Aggelopoulos’ brothers as well as with head coach David Blatt. Despite the meetings, Papapetrou decided to decline Olympiacos offer and move on to the next chapter in his career.

In the 2017-2018 EuroLeague season, he averaged 6.8 points and 3.6 rebounds per game, starting in 12 of the 31 games.
