Free agent Mike James has gotten the interest from other teams, and although he has been willing to stay with Panathinaikos, it seems the player and the club couldn’t work out an agreement.

James confirmed leaving Panathinaikos with a farewell post on his Instagram account: “Family….. always was and always will be. Thanks for the past two years and giving me a place to call home.”

The American guard first arrived to PAO on 3rd of July 2016, as he helped the team win both the Greek Cup title and the Greek League championship in the 2016–17 season. He was also named the Greek League’s Most Spectacular Player for that season.

After a short stint with the Suns and Pelicans in the NBA, the 27-year-old returned to Panathinaikos for the rest of the 2017-18 season averaging 16 points and four assists in EuroLeague and helping the team win another Greek League title.
