Real Madrid announced the addition of 23-year-old Argentinian forward Gabriel Deck on a three-year deal. Deck last played for San Lorenzo in Argentina.
In 2017-2018, Deck led San Lorenzo to the Liga de Las Americas title. He scored 23 points and grabbed 10 rebounds in the Final against Mogi Dal Cruzes (Brazil), numbers which were enough to win him the MVP of the game. Deck also led the competition in scoring by averaging 19.1 points per game.
Deck’s playing style has been often compared to Argentinian basketball legend and former Real Madrid forward Andres Nocioni. Nocioni had quite a successful stint with Real, helping the “Blancos” win the EuroLeague for the first time in 20 years in 2015 when he was also named MVP of the Final Four.
In September 2017, Deck faced Real Madrid as an opponent in a prep game. He scored 17 points while San Lorenzo won 84-81.
