Tyler Honeycutt’s tragic death was ruled a suicide by the coroner office of Los Angeles County, per a report by USA Today.
LAPD had previously announced that Honeycutt died from a self-inflicted wound during the shootout that took place on Saturday 7/7. The coroner that investigated the exact details of how Honeycutt was killed, classified the player’s death as a suicide caused a gunshot wound to the head.
On Saturday, June 7, the LAPD received a phone call by a woman from a residence at Sherman Oaks, Los Angeles, saying that her son was behaving erratically. Several reports appeared mentioning that this person is Tyler Honeycutt.
Following the arrival of the police at the scene, the person fired a gun at the police and a shootout began, per LAPD. After the SWAT team interfered, the person was pronounced dead and, a few hours later, his identity was confirmed to be that of Tyler Honeycutt.
Honeycutt, a former Anadolu Efes, Khimki Moscow and Sacramento Kings player, was 27 years old.
