According to reports from SDNA, confirmed by Eurohoops sources, DeShaun Thomas is Panathinaikos‘ choice for the power forward position. Thomas, 26, seems to be the best cut for the Greens, as he fits Xavi Pascual’s game plans.
Thomas spent the previous season with Maccabi Tel Aviv, averaging 11.5 points and 3.3 rebounds in 28 EuroLeague games. He’s been part of FC Barcelona, as well as Anadolu Efes in the past, while he was named Israeli champion with Maccabi.
Earlier in the day, the Greens signed a new one-year contract with Matt Lojeski. Contrary to Lojeski who is expected to be used in the perimeter, Thomas, despite the fact that he can also be used a small forward, he is expected to get the lion’s share in the “four” position.
The fact that he is a great shooter doesn’t hurt either since Panathinaikos was looking for a boost from the three points line.
