Tornike Shengelia’s NBA clause in his new mega deal with Baskonia

Baskonia announced Tornike Shengelia’s new mega-deal a few days prior, one of the most lucrative ones not only in the club’s history but in EuroLeague history overall.

The two sides have agreed to a four-year, $7.5 million deal, with an NBA opt-out clause for every summer, which leaves Shengelia free to explore his NBA chances anew.

Shengelia, who was selected by Philadelphia 76ers in the 2012 draft, spent two seasons with the Brooklyn Nets (2012-2014) with multiple assignments to the Springfield Armor of the D-League, followed by a short stint in Chicago Bulls.

It is to be noted that the deal only leaves this NBA opt-out option open. That being said, Shengelia won’t be moving elsewhere in European territory for the foreseeable future.
