Felix Fernandez, the sports director of Kirolbet Baskonia, confirmed that the 30-year-old American Matt Janning could receive a European passport in the coming weeks as several national teams showed interest in acquiring him, per Marca.
If everything goes well, Janning would be counted as an EU player, therefore, not occupying one of the two foreigner spots Baskonia is allowed in the Spanish League. The second spot is occupied by Darrun Hilliard.
Fernandez also confirmed Baskonia is looking to add another player to the roster and if Janning’s situation gets resolved quickly it would broaden the Spanish club’s search and include the non-EU players.
