Darussafaka recently announced that Cory Jefferson was released just one month after signing with the team. The reason for this decision wasn’t included in the official press release, but it was already leaked that Jefferson failed the medical exams.
That’s not the case according to the side of the player. Mike Silverman, Jefferson’s agent, explained to Eurohoops that his client was proven healthy three times during the last twelve months. “Cory has never failed a medical examination,” Silverman said. “During the past year, he was examined by Olimpia Milano, the Texas Legends for the NBA G-League, and the San Antonio Spurs for the NBA Summer League. He passed these exams with no medical concerns.” To be exact, Cory Jefferson never failed a physical in his entire career.
In theory, the reasoning behind Darussafaka’s decision is a specific anatomical issue in Jefferson’s body. However, Jefferson was re-examined in Italy a couple days after Darussafaka’s examination by a well-respected doctor of a professional club. Once again, he passed all of the tests.
According to the official press release of Darussafaka, parting ways was a “mutual decision”. The player, however, is expected to turn to BAT, asking for compensation. Meanwhile, he is healthy and free to find a new team.
