The players around Europe are trying to take as much initiative as they can and the first step towards it was the founding of the EuroLeague Players Association.
The final ‘push’ for the players seemed to be the ongoing dispute between FIBA and EuroLeague as many of them couldn’t help their respective nations throughout the qualifiers but there are also other ‘smaller’ problems that come along with various competitions and jurisdiction over them.
Fenerbahce forward Nikola Kalinic, who doesn’t hide his dissatisfaction with FIBA’s schedule and also thinks players should be the focus, addressed one of them with a shoutout to FIBA, EuroLeague and ELPA on his Twitter account:
Although it seems to be overlooked often, the ball used in games is very important but it isn’t the same for every competition. That can bother players and they often don’t have enough time to adjust to the situation.
