In a recent interview with ‘Izvestia‘, Vladimir Gomelsky talked about CSKA Moscow and its head coach, Dimitris Itoudis.
As he states, Dimitris Itoudis should remain the head coach of the ‘Army Team’ even if his team does not conquer the Turkish Airlines EuroLeague title this upcoming season: “Will CSKA renew Dimitris Itoudis’ contract only if he wins the EuroLeague trophy? As a former coach, I am opposed to such a decision. The only objective criterion to criticize a coach is his results.”
Gomelsky also praised Dimitris Itoudis and his work in Russia: “I believe Itoudis has done a remarkable job with CSKA these past four years, but the fans of the ‘Army Team’ have consistently high expectations. The fact that Itoudis did not meet the fans expectations is a problem for the fans and not for Itoudis himself. I believe he has to remain with CSKA and after the end of the season.”
