5-time German champion Anton Gavel announced that he will retire from professional basketball, after constantly playing for 18 seasons.
“I saw that Navarro and Ginobili retired, so that decision grew on me”, Gavel tells during the press conference held in Munich about his retirement.
Gavel began his career in Karlsruhe and soon moved to Giessen 46ers, before leaving Germany for Murcia in Spain and Aris in Greece. He spent the last four seasons of his career with Bayern, arriving from an incredibly successful run with Brose Bamberg (2009-2014).
Gavel has also served both the Slovak and the German National Teams in past EuroBasket competitions.
