EuroLeague CEO Jordi Bertomeu is among the distinguished guests of the “Pavlos Giannakopoulos” tournament and he admitted that it’s good to be back at OAKA.
“It’s always good to be at a country with so much passion about basketball and two big clubs like Panathinaikos and Olympiacos“, he said before honoring the memory of the late Pavlos Giannakopoulos: “I was happy to be his friend for years. When he passed away, we lost one of the biggest personalities in the history not only of the Greek but also of European basketball. He made Panathinaikos a powerhouse with six EuroLeague titles”.
Of course, the return of Bertomeu at OAKA proves that the conflict with Panathinaikos owner Dimitris Giannakopoulos is a thing of the past: “These things happen, but everything belongs to the past. What really counts is tomorrow, no matter what happened in the past. Everyone makes mistakes and we hope that we can learn from those mistakes”.
