Anadolu Efes beat Olympiacos 78 – 70 in the premiere of the annual “Gomelsky Cup” preseason tournament, held in Moscow.
The French duo of Efes were the top players on the floor. We’re talking about Adrien Moerman (15 points, nine rebounds) and Rodrigue Beaubois (14 points, five assists) who did lots of work for the winning team. Tibor Pleiss added 11 points plus four rebounds and Bryant Dunston 10 points for an Efes squad that even led by 16 points, 63 – 47 in the second half.
Olympiacos, that was without Vassilis Spanoulis and Kostas Papanikolaou, made a comeback attempt but it wasn’t enough to turn things around. Zach LeDay had 13 points plus six rebounds, Nikola Milutinov 12 points plus eight boards and Sasa Vezenkov 12 points, seven rebounds and four assists
