Basketball is the second religion in Lithuania and that was proven once more. Sarunas Jasikevicius has already been named an honorary citizen of the city of Kaunas, however even the Lithuanian president Dalia Grybauskaitė wanted to honor him.
Saras received the Grand Cross of the Order of the Lithuanian Grand Duke Gediminas. It is the Lithuanian Presidential Award which was re-instituted after the independence of the country to honor the citizens of Lithuania for outstanding performance in civil and public offices. The Order of the Lithuanian Grand Duke Gediminas was instituted in 1928. It features the Columns of Gediminas, one of the national symbols of Lithuania.
