Xavi Pascual won his second Greek league title and for the second year in the row, he was named best coach in Greece. The Spanish tactician has proven to be the right choice for Panathinaikos and as his third season on the bench of the club is about to start, he opens up in Eurohoops.
“Now that we are in September we are dreaming for something more”, Pascual said referring to the possible return of Panathinaikos to the EuroLeague Final Four. The Spanish coach talked about Dimitris Giannakopoulos – “I have to thank him in public, because we can’t forget that he is one guy behind the club and he is making an amazing effort” – and also about the new faces on Panathinaikos’ roster, former Olympiacos coach Giannis Sfairopoulos and new coach David Blatt.
Of course, Pascual addressed the issue of Barcelona, the retirement of Juan Carlos Navarro (ed. note: the interview was given one day before the honorary gala for the Barcelona legend) and the ongoing debate between FIBA and the EuroLeague. Watch the full interview.
