Former EuroLeague champion with Barcelona Victor Sada decided to retire from basketball after 17 years of action, as he announced Monday.
In a speech given to announce the big news, Sada’s words were very moving:
“I wanted to do it basically to say thank you. Thanks to Barça being able to act here, I consider Palau my home. I’m 34 years old and I’ve spent 17 years at Barça, it’s half my life. Thanks also to all the people, players, friends”, mentioned Sada, as adapted by Mundo Deportivo.
“The last years of a player are hard and mine have also been. When I left Andorra, a cross was placed on me. I had a tough situation with my partner and I decided to stay by her side and help her in whatever was needed. Life is much more important than basketball, although we leave life through it. I had two important offers but I rejected them. I would do it again, Elena,” continued Sada, in his emotional speech.
Sada goes out after a very successful run with the Spanish NT as well, winning the 2011 EuroBasket, as well as a silver medal at the 2012 Summer Olympics.
