FC Bayern Munich stormed past Darussafaka with a 116-70 home victory in Round 6 of Turkish Airlines EuroLeague. This marks the club’s biggest victory in the competition to date (former record was 88-68 blast over Galatasaray in 2013).
Bayern newcomer Devin Booker already overcame his personal EuroLeague record (against Fenerbahce) with his 18-point performance tonight. The American center was nearly perfect in FG – 7 out of 8 – while he also grabbed two boards to go along with two assists for an overall index rating of 23.
Darussafaka’s resistance only lasted for a quarter (22-17 at 10′), as the game turned into a feast for the hosts. “Our team got frustrated, which shouldn’t have happened but it’s something we have to correct from our part”, commented coach Ahmet Caki in his post-game quotes to the press.
Booker and Petteri Koponen (16 p., 4/4 from the three-point line) took turns, with added assistance from Danilo Barthel (12 p.) and Maodo Lo (13 p.).
Not only did Bayern achieve such a broad victory, but also managed to break another record, with 18/26 in threes, an accuracy of roughly 70%!
The visitors’ Jeremy Evans wasn’t enough to keep the team standing in Munich, despite his 20 points and seven boards.
With this win, the German team improves to a 3-3 record, as the visitors sink to 1-5.
