The referees’ report in the scoresheet of the game between Panathinaikos and Olympiacos will have as a result a new disciplinary proceeding and investigation from the EuroLeague.
While part of last season’s penalties of Dimitris Giannakopoulos are on hold and his relationship with the competition has been improved, the EuroLeague bylaws are specific on this matter and everything included in the referees’ report will be examined by the EuroLeague independent judge.
The initiation of the investigation is expected to be officially announced in the following days. At the moment, it’s unknown what the result will be and what disciplinary consequences may have.
It has to be noted that the investigation is initiated because of what’s written in the scoresheet and not because of Panathinaikos’ answer about “wrong translation” that includes bribery allegations towards Olympiacos, however, this reaction may end up also being part of the proceeding.
