Real Madrid outlasted the All-Spanish battle against Gran Canaria and sealed an 89-76 victory at home for Round 8 of Turkish Airlines EuroLeague, starting the double-game week action with a bust, despite missing Sergio Llull.
The always productive Anthony Randolph stepped up for the hosts once again during a challenging final period and dropped 20 points along with eight rebounds, as Real continues its undefeated route into the regular season.
Gran Canaria’s early 28-22 lead soon vanished as the reigning champions bounced back in the second period and never lost the lead of the game since. Despite a low-scoring third quarter and the visitors’ attempts to trim the deficit, Klemen Prepelic (13 p.) along with Randolph kept their team intact.
On the other side of the court, D.J. Strawberry was hot from the three-point line and added 20 points for the Canaria side, that now sinks to a 2-6 record in the standings.
