Khimki Moscow grabbed the 84-83 road victory against Zalgiris Kaunas for Round 9 of Turkish Airlines EuroLeague and improved to a 3-6 record in the standings, same as the hosts, that once again ceased to grab a homecourt victory.

It was a very important win, especially when we lost two or three games with buzzer-beaters. Today, we were lucky, they missed the shot to go to overtime. It’s a difficult environment to win in, so we are happy about this” commented coach Bartzokas in his post-game quotes.

Alexey Shved paced the winners with a huge double-double performance of 25 points and 10 assists. The Russian guard not only showed efficiency in creating but also finished the game with four steals and one board, adding up to 25 index rating points.

Alongside Shved, Jordan Mickey also showed efficiency on both ends with 18 points and six boards, holding up Zalgiris’ resistance in the final period.

A pair of free throws by Aaron White trimmed the deficit to two points with 19 seconds to go, though Anthony Gill and Mickey had the final say for Khimki, as they shaped up the final score from the charity line.

Brandon Davies, who put on an equally big performance for Zalgiris with 23 points (new Euroleague high) and 13 rebounds, wasn’t able to hand his team their first home victory of the season.
