The Buducnost Voli fans were displaying a sign which said: “The Russian winter doesn’t know what Podgorica’s north is”, and it turned out to be true.
Buducnost handed CSKA Moscow their first loss this season in Turkish Airlines EuroLeague and have done so in the last seconds, and after trailing big at the halftime. The Moraca Sports Centre was ‘boiling’ as the crowd cheered on hosts’ comeback run to the victory.
Not even coach Aleksandar Dzikic could keep his emotions in check as he let it all out on his way to the locker room:
However, as soon as he got the chance, Buducnost coach apologized for the outburst: “I want to apologize that I let my emotions out. I was mostly screaming in the locker room”, Dzikic said and later explained at the press conference: “I mean, it just came out. I apologized after the game, it wasn’t very nice from my side but the energy that we all have and everything we endure, it comes out from time to time. It won’t happen again.”
Coach didn’t want to overanalyze the game as it’s almost a given a team must play their best basketball in order to beat CSKA: “It was good. I mean, I don’t want to philosophize too much now, we beat CSKA. So, I should, like, be modest in victory now? Not bad, not bad at all.”
Of course, Dzikic knows very well how historic of a victory this is: “We can remember that we beat mighty CSKA Moscow and we did it in front of a record crowd”, however, it’s not his favorite one as Buducnost boss. He without a doubt chose the wins in the ABA League Finals last season against Crvena Zvezda: “Not even close. This the favorite win? ‘Pft’. There was one…which month was it… in April? I liked that one way more, believe me… incomparably so.”, he said in a funny way, making the room laugh.
