FC Bayern Munich prevailed over Zalgiris Kaunas at home with an 88-84 victory in Round 12 of Turkish Airlines EuroLeague. The Germans move up to a 6-6 record.
It was a special night for Derrick Williams who was phenomenal in the court, adding a new personal EuroLeague-high of 27 points, seven rebounds and three assists for a total index rating of 29 points. Williams changed the route of the game, following multiple ties in the score during the third period and Bayern got ahead, while also managed to keep the lead until the end.
Coach Dejan Radonic praised Zalgiris‘ pressure in the post-game press conference:”We expected a tough game, it’s not a statement, ’cause they are really excellent”.
Stefan Jovic and Nihad Djedovic also made key shots for the hosts, adding 11 points each.
On the other end of the court, Brandon Davies posted 21 points and six rebounds for the Lithuanian side falls to 5-7 in the standings. It is to be noted that Zalgiris traveled to Munich without Nate Wolters and Antanas Kavaliauskas.
