Anadolu Efes prevailed over Buducnost Voli Podgorica in Istanbul with a 106-68 victory for Round 13 of Turkish Airlines EuroLeague.
Sharpshooter Rodrigue Beaubois was the key factor for the winners, as he paced the Turkish side with a 22-point performance, with five out of seven from the three-point line.
The 30-year-old combo guard also added two rebounds and an assist in 21 minutes on the court. Combined with Krunoslav Simon’s 15 points, seven boards, and five assists, it was an all-around exciting game for the hosts.
Efes, that never lost the initiative throughout the game, improves to a stunning 9-4 record after consecutive losses, while Buducnost sinks further down with a 3-10 record.
“Don’t forget that Buducnost beat CSKA and Barcelona, so congratulations to my players that they took this game seriously. We played perfect basketball and remain in the fourth position in the standings. It was a great game for us, but it is over and we have to start preparing for the next game”, commented Ergin Ataman after the game.
A stunning 32-12 outbreak by Efes in the third period was enough to raise the level of difficulty for the Podgorica side, that never managed to come back to the game. However, Earl Clarke was once again the leading scorer for the visitors with 18 points.
Ataman’s squad now has to put celebrations aside and get ready for Thursday’s match-up with CSKA Moscow, while Buducnost plays against Fenerbahce at home. Still, it was the biggest home win of Anadolu Efes at home in the EuroLeague history of the club.
