Fenerbahce Beko president Ali Koc said that the budget of the basketball department of the club has a €15 million deficit this season, without the sponsorship of Dogus Group.
Koc also mentioned that despite this shortfall, the team will continue operating on a high-level budget for coach Zeljko Obradovic.
“Last season we had a deficit of 11 million under the sponsorship of Dogus and we have a deficit of 15 million this season,” Koc said in an interview with FB TV. “As long as Mr. Obradovic continues with us, we will provide this budget in one way or another. We shouldn’t be talking big but we’re trying to keep it going.”
Obradovic’s contract with the club expires in 2020 and Koc doesn’t see the Serbian coach leaving any sooner. “Obradovic going to another team is out of the question. He’ll be with us next season.”
Beko, Fenerbahce’s current main sponsor, is owned by Koc Holding which is the largest industrial group in Turkey.
