Following the loss against Anadolu Efes in EuroLeague Round 19, Darussafaka Tekfen head coach Selcuk Ernak talked about the squad’s roster and confirmed the club will be parting ways with Ray McCallum in order to create more minutes for the young Turkish players:
“We really need our Turkish players in EuroLeague and Turkish League. Them playing only in Turkish League and not playing in EuroLeague at all does not seem realistic to me in terms of their development. McCallum will not be with us any longer and his minutes will be distributed to our young players. Those minutes will be used to our Turkish players’ benefit. With our budget, it is not easy to make a transfer without one of the players leaving”, the coach explained at the press conference.
McCallum played 16 EuroLeague games with Darussafaka this season and averaged 9.4 points, 4.1 assists, and 3.7 rebounds. He didn’t play the last three games.
