James Nunnally talked about how Olimpia Milano coach Simone Pianigiani convinced him to join the squad and the high aspirations of the Italian team.
“I talked to coach Pianigiani about an hour on the phone. We talked a couple of times. He called me. He’s willing to show that I’m an important piece for him. To help the rebuilding process. To help put Milan at the top of European basketball, where it should be,” Nunnally said an interview for Olimpia Milano.
Nunnally has been there. In 2017 he helped Fenerbahce Beko be crowned EuroLeague champion and, in the process, acquired a couple of winning lessons from this experience.
“You cannot be selfish if you play in a team like that. What you need to do is to sacrifice a little bit of yourself for the betterment of the team, sometimes it can be hard because everyone in that team could be stars anywhere, but if you see that the guy next to you is sacrificing for the betterment of you or someone else, it makes having a cohesive unit easier, it makes for a smoother system, a smoother operation.”
