Kirolbet Baskonia Vitoria-Gasteiz prevailed over Maccabi FOX Tel Aviv with a 97-73 victory at home for Round 21 of Turkish Airlines EuroLeague and improved to a 10-11 record in the standings.
Baskonia took a step forward from its triple-tie with Maccabi and Olimpia Milano with this victory and can still hope for a place in the playoffs.
Johannes Voigtmann was a true leader for the Basque team, adding 20 points (8/9 FG) along with Darrun Hilliard who also did an excellent job in all ends of the court and finished with 19 points, two rebounds.
In his debut with the team, former Cavs and Mavs forward Jalen Jones added five points with 2/5 in 14 minutes.
Maccabi had Scottie Wilbekin scoring 19 points, but also attempting more than one-third of the team’s three-pointers, with only four hitting score (the team finished with 10/30 attempts).
“We didn’t have the right way to approach the game. Baskonia had us under control throughout the game. We didn’t play as good as we did lately, but we had four games in eight games”, commented coach Sfairopoulos at the post-game press conference.
