CSKA Moscow blew out Buducnost Voli Podgorica, 99 – 69 and improved its record to 16-5, while the visitors fell to 6-15.
The game was tight after the first half (52-47), despite the fact that CSKA had built an early double-digit lead (26-15). With a 19-8 run in the start of the third quarter, Dimitris Itoudis’ team increased its lead to 16 points (71-55). In 23 minutes, Nando De Colo had scored 21 points.
The lead increased to 20+ in the fourth quarter (91-66), as Daniel Hackett was also knocking down shots. The hosts handed out 25 assists, while they also made ten three-pointers. It’s interesting to note that CSKA outscored Buducnost 47-22.
De Colo had an all-around impressive performance, as he finished with 26 points, seven assists, and seven rebounds. Hackett added 17 points, while Kyle Hines handed out a career-high seven assists.
The visitors only had two players in double-digits. Norris Cole scored 11 points.
CSKA’s head coach, Dimitris Itoudis focused on his team’s second quarter in his post-game comments: “The second quarter ruined out picture on the defensive end because they had some easy layups directly from our turnovers. Their productivity in the second half was 22 points, and that says something about our effort. We had deflections, body contact, continuous and consistent disruption of their jumpers, and that was the key. It gave us the trigger so we could score some easy points.”
