Zalgiris Kaunas will waive guard Derrick Walton according to Lithuanian website 15min.lt. The player was out of the team’s roster in Friday’s (8/2) EuroLeague game vs. Barcelona.
Walton, 23, arrived at Zalgiris in October. The American player has averaged 4.6 points and 2.5 assists in 12:37 minutes over 17 EuroLeague games, plus 8.4 points and a team-high 4.4 assists in 20:15 minutes over 15 Lithuanian League games.
In mid-January, Zalgiris head coach Sarunas Jasikevicius commented that Walton is a “really good guy,” but adaptation to European basketball “isn’t easy for him.”
UPDATE: Zalgiris officially parted ways with the player.
