Join a conversation between CSKA Moscow big men Othello Hunter and host Kyle Hines in the second edition of The Kyle Zone, a new podcast featuring three-time continental champion Kyle Hines of CSKA Moscow.
A six-year EuroLeague veteran, Hunter actually rejected basketball in his youth.
“I didn’t like basketball at all,” he says. “I was playing American football, like a lot of guys in the neighborhood. I just always loved it.”
He finally joined a team in his last year of high school and quickly made up for lost time, finishing as an NCAA runner-up and playing two NBA seasons before coming to Europe, which he now considers to have been his destiny.
“I would never have thought I would come here,” Hunter says. “And now, I feel like this journey I’ve taken has been the best. Like, I’d rather be over here than home. That’s just how I am. I would not have experienced all these countries I’ve been in otherwise… I love experiencing other cultures.”
