In Panathinaikos OPAP Athens’ win in Turkey, former NBAer, Georgios Papagiannis had his best game in the Turkish Airlines EuroLeague with an impressive double-double. The timing couldn’t have been better, as his team is fighting for a playoff spot.
‘Big-Papa’ tied his career-high in points with 14 (7/8 2FG) and set a new one in rebounds with 12, while also having a major impact on the defensive side of the court with three blocks. In the PIR system, he had the highest rating of the game with 26.
Head coach Rick Pitino, praised his seven-footer in the post-game conference: “I’ve got a special relationship with him. I told him that you could be one of the better players in the EuroLeague. I want to see you go for a double-double tonight and he came through with 14 points, 12 rebounds and three blocks.”
