Panathinaikos head coach Rick Pitino was quite pleased with the away win of his team over Olimpia Milano but there were two things that he didn’t particularly like in regards his visit to Italy.
“One thing that disappoints me is that I wore my Giorgio Armani suit tonight and I was hoping I could meet Mr. Armani. And I don’t believe he was here,” Pitino said in the post-game presser. Giorgio Armani is the owner of Olimpia Milano.
“The other thing is that I was hoping there’ll be at least three EuroLeague teams in Italy. Not one. One in the Amalfi coast. One in Rome, or Siena. And one here. So let’s get with it. Let’s try to take some football money and get some EuroLeague teams in Italy,” Pitino added. The Hall Of Fame coach had just beaten the sole representative of Italy in the top-tier European competition for a key victory that pushes Panathinaikos closer to clinching a playoffs spot.
It was Pitino’s team sixth win in a row.
Regarding the match, Pitino mentioned: “It’s one thing to make the playoffs, it’s a second thing to be playing great basketball going into the playoffs. We keep getting better every practice, every game, every week, every month. And that’s what basketball is all about.”
