French football powerhouse Lyon confirmed they are in talks with Tony Parker’s Asvel for a possible investment in the basketball club, ahead of its EuroLeague entry in the following two campaigns, as reported by sportsmedia.com.

Per the report, neither the French Pro A club, owned by NBA veteran Tony Parker, or Lyon have disclosed the value of the investment but any deal will have to conclude by the end of June.

Last week, Parker mentioned that he was looking for external investment and expressed hopes to reach a deal with Lyon. “I always had a good feeling with Jean-Michel Aulas. I always had a lot of respect for what he did with [Lyon]. Jean-Michel is a pioneer. We have always been very well aligned with our vision of business and sport.”

Followingly, the French Football League club confirmed they were in talks with Asvel in a statement: “[Olympique Lyon] confirms that exclusive discussions have been initiated with [Asvel], for a minority stake in the Villeurbanne basketball club. This period of exclusivity will extend until 30th June 2019. This acquisition of participation would allow the rapprochement of two emblematic clubs of the metropolis of Lyon.”
