The playoffs race is on, the tiebreaking scenarios are 99 for the teams between the sixth and the 12th spot of the standings, but for three teams things are quite simple. As EuroLeague points out Zalgiris Kaunas, Maccabi FOX Tel Aviv and Bayern Munich simple have to win this week.
If the Lithuanian champions lose on the road to Olympiacos, Maccabi commits suicide at home against Herbalife Gran Canaria and Bayern can’t beat Darussafaka Tekfen on the road, then those three teams are out of the playoffs, even if they end up getting 14 wins at the end of the regular season. All three of them currently have a 13-15 record.
Also a home defeat of Olympiacos Piraeus by Zalgiris Kaunas can be the end of the road for the Greeks if the trio of KIROLBET Baskonia Vitoria Gasteiz, Panathinaikos OPAP and AX Armani Exchange Olimpia Milan get wins.
However, Olympiacos with a 14-14 record can have hope in any other scenario. On the contrary Zalgiris, Maccabi and Bayern can be eliminated even if they get the win. The scenarios for this to happen are the following:
Zalgiris is eliminated with a win if Baskonia, Panathinaikos AND Milan all win while Maccabi and Bayern lose.
Maccabi is eliminated with a win if Panathinaikos AND Milan both win while Bayern loses.
Maccabi is eliminated with a win if Panathinaikos AND Olympiacos both win while Bayern loses.
Bayern is eliminated with a win if Baskonia, Panathinaikos AND Olympiacos all win.
