Panathinaikos was among the comeback stories of the EuroLeague 2018-19 Regular Season. Following its worst start ever in Europe’s premier competition, the Greens under the guidance of Rick Pitino turned the table in their favor and extended their campaign into the postseason.
The 16-14 finish was good enough for sixth place and set up a best-of-five playoffs series versus third-placed Real Madrid. Panathinaikos was fourth in the first couple of seasons under the round-robin format, but failed to advance to the Final Four. This time, home-court advantage belongs to its opponents.
