Panathinaikos’ Keith Langford spoke to the media ahead of the second game in the series against Real in Madrid and shared his thoughts on the last play with Facu Campazzo defending him in the last possession, for which the Greek team officially protested as it was made known Thursday.
“He’s a pretty short guy. He has a center low gravity. I think that the referees, you know, normally in playoffs basketball, normally they should let the players decide the game. They allowed him to be a little physical. He was in my space even when I came up for my jump shot. When I landed he was still in my landing space, which from a rules standpoint it’s illegal. The only thing I was disappointed about was the last play. I’m fine with missing a shot. Good defense, bad defense, whatever you wanna call it, we won’t allow to have the same aggressiveness defensively”, Langford commented.
Real Madrid sealed the win in Game 1 though nothing is over yet, as the Panathinaikos player mentioned.
“You have to move on. I think everybody is human, you think about what you could have done better. The important thing to remember is that we play tomorrow, it’s the second game and it’s a series. It was not an elimination game, nothing has happened, we’re still in a good position in my mind.”
The reigning champions face visiting Panathinaikos at home on Friday for Game 2 in their playoffs series.
