Zalgiris Kaunas coach Sarunas Jasikevicius joked about certain aspects of the officiating of Game 2 against Fenerbahce Beko while talking to Lithuanian media.
“It’s not the question for me. If we lost, I’d pay a fine,” Jasikevicius answered after a question regarding a discussion he had with referee Luigi Lamonica and whether it was about Fenerbahce’s level of physicality on defense, per 15min.lt.
Zalgiris survived a comeback from 16 points down in the second half to beat the Turkish powerhouse and tie the best-of-five series 1-1. Saras applauded his players’ reaction following a horrid performance in Game 1.
“It is amazing. Wins and losses are important, but in the end, it is not the most important thing. It is the reaction of the players, the fighting spirit they showed after the bad performance we had two days ago. I am happy for them. We knew we are coming in playing great basketball, but two days ago we were not able to do it”.
There will be at least two more matches in the series and Zalgirio Arena will be packed.
“We have to be extremely happy for our fans who now get to see the best team in Europe for two games and the best coach in Europe for two games. This is very exciting for people in Kaunas.”
