Panathinaikos head coach Rick Pitino said that his team needs to undergo certain “changes”, following the loss to Real Madrid in Game 2 of the EuroLeague quarterfinals.
These changes, however, most likely won’t include anything game-wise since… the Golden State Warriors might not be up for releasing a player in the mid of the playoffs.
“Unless we recruit some guys from the Warriors who can shoot, I don’t know if we can change because we lost one game,” Pitino said in the post-game presser after being asked if his team can change anything in his tactics for the games in Athens. “I think we’re here because we’ve played good defense. I do think we possibly could change personnel right now. Not a whole lot of options in changing personnel but I think we will look at the film and judge that.”
Pitino saw his team struggling to make shots and captain Nick Calathes in particular finishing with 0/11 from the field. “He had a poor game but it was due to the defense. He had wide open shots an didn’t make them. Got to give their defense credit.
