Zalgiris Kaunas faced defeat and Final Four elimination from Fenerbahce Beko after an impressive run late in the season. The team will now shift its focus to its LKL obligations and coach Sarunas Jasikevicius expressed his desire to stay in Kaunas for next season.
“You will have to kick me out from here with two legs unless something miraculous happens”, he told at the post-game press conference, as adapted by Donatas Urbonas.
Jasikevicius’ wish to stick with Zalgiris could pay both sides off in the long run. As prior reported, Zalgiris GM Paulius Motiejunas confirmed that Jasikevicius is already in the process of building his team for the 2019-20 season, with a noteworthy budget that could reach up to 11 million euros.
With that in mind, only an offer from the NBA (what Jasikevicius pointed as ‘miraculous’ in the presser) could interfere with the plans of him staying in Kaunas.
