Herbalife Gran Canaria announced today (7/5) that the club has reached an agreement with an additional sponsor in HMK Holdings LP, an international bank holding company located in the US.
HMK Holdings LP would be their second sponsor together with Herbalife but the company is also interested in buying a part of the club. Gran Canaria has been the government of Canarias’ property so far and if a deal comes to fruition, HMK Holdings LP would become the first private owner of the club.
The announcement by the club is as follows:
At the last session of the Board of Directors of the CB Gran Canaria Claret, S.A.D.U unanimously approved the signing of a sponsorship contract for the current season with the American investment fund HMK Holdings LP, entity that will become the entity’s sponsor becoming, in economic terms, the second private sponsor of the club.
In addition, with this agreement are laid the foundations of a future collaboration between the two entities that could involve, if so agreed by the Canarian Sports Foundation through the opening of an administrative process of public transfer of part of the titles that represent the club’s capital stock , the entrance of private capital in the club.
In short, this news is a big step for the club to approach the goal of self-sufficiency in economic management.
