VITORIA-GASTEIZ — Zeljko Obradovic stepped into the post-game press conference obviously let down with the result and Fenerbahce Beko’s elimination from the final, an image that, according to what he mentioned, doesn’t represent the team’s effort throughout the season.
“I tried to understand what happened with my team today. And I’m really sorry for my players. The first impression is to recognize that our defense was not at the best level to play against a team like Efes in the Final Four. I am also very sorry for our people, they showed us great support. Again I’m really sorry for my players. I believe we played really good basketball this season to show this picture today, it really hurt me”, were Obradovic’s opening remarks.
When asked about how the injuries affected the team, Obradovic was short and clear. “If I start to talk about injuries it’ll look like I’m looking for an excuse. We played for a long time without some of our main guys. This is the reason that I’m really sorry. We didn’t play something that is our game”.
