VITORIA-GASTEIZ — Real Madrid had just defeated Fenerbahce Beko in the third-place game of the EuroLeague Final Four. Yet Rudy Fernandez wasn’t particularly happy when he was walking through the mixed zone and on his way to the locker room.
“We ‘need’ to play this kind of games,” Fernandez told Eurohoops when asked how difficult it is to play in the third-place match, 48 hours after a semifinal loss.
Fernandez proceeded to comment on the injury of Fenerbahce guard Erick Green. Green was forced to exit the game later in the fourth period after he got hurt on his leg.
“You have seen the bad situation and the injury of Εrick Green,” Fernandez said. “So this is a bullsh-t play and bullsh-t games. We have to do it, because EuroLeague has [scheduled] those games”.
Speaking about Real Madrid’s win, Fernandez added: “We tried to play good, we are happy about the victory, but we don’t care”.
