Kostas Sloukas expected a better outcome for Fenerbahce Beko during the 2019 EuroLeague Final Four, which took place at Vitoria-Gasteiz, Spain. His club was defeated Anadolu Efes in the Final Four Semifinal and a couple of days later ranked fourth in the 2018-19 season after losing to Real Madrid.
Via his official Eurohoops video blog, the 29-year-old Greek guard admits that everyone on his team is still stuck on the way Efes eliminated them. He also wonders how many more Fener players will be sidelined this year when he touched on Erick Green’s injury during the third-place match.
He’s still very angry with himself for the third foul he picked up in the first half of the Semifinal, which hurt his side’s overall performance. Without hesitation, he confesses that he didn’t match his own expectations in Spain.
The 2018-19 campaign doesn’t end with the Final Four. Fenerbahce now turns its attention to the Turkish BSL and everyone is motivated to succeed, Sloukas points out. On another note, Sloukas underlined every fan is entitled to his opinion and can express it freely.
