ELPA Managing Director Bostjan Nachbar sets on the table what many players have been thinking about or have been opposed to in the past: the EuroLeague Final Four third-place game.
Nachbar posted a tweet with which he informed that the issue “shall be addressed by the ELPA”, in order to create a more player-friendly environment at the Final Four.
Erick Green’s tough injury on Sunday, at the third-place game between Real Madrid and Fenerbahce Beko, brought the issue on the spotlight, as many players opposed openly about this current format.
“We have to play this type of game, you’ve seen the situation with Erick Green’s injury, it’s a stupid occurrence in a stupid game. We had to play it because EuroLeague programmed it, it’s good to have won, but we do not care”, commented Real Madrid’s Rudy Fernandez.
“I can not really say what I think of this match,” Fabien Causeur told Gigantes del Basket. “If Erick Green broke his Achilles tendon and will be unavailable for a year because of a game that does not help, what are we going to do? We are going to talk to ELPA to have the third-place game removed”.
