Sarunas Jasikevicius is currently staying with Zalgiris Kaunas, according to the club’s Sports Director Robertas Javtokas.
“It seems that everything is OK and, today, Saras is staying with Zalgiris,” Javtokas said in an interview with LKL (Lithuanian League) TV.
“We know we can’t keep him for life,” Javtokas also said. “If an NBA offer comes, we will be very glad for him.”
For the second straight year, Jasikevicius has been rumored to be targeted by NBA teams. Memphis Grizzlies VP president of Basketball Operations Tayshaun Prince was reported to visited Kaunas in order to meet with Saras. The Cleveland Cavaliers also reportedly shown interest for Jasikevicius for their vacant head coach position before hiring John Beilein.
In the meantime, Zalgiris Kaunas beat Lietkabelis 78 – 58 in the Lithuanian League semifinals Game 1 behind Brandon Davies’ 16 points and nine rebounds.
